Blog Kickoff!

Yes, I’m a bit slow getting on the blog bandwagon. But after a few failed attempts at maintaining a personal website, I thought it might be easier to just go with the prepackaged deal. Hopefully this way I won’t be quite so slack about updating. This blog is going to be mostly about us and Juliet (and Juliet’s sibling after h/she arrives). Nothing that arty, nothing that intellectual; just family news to update anyone who may be interested.

So to get things started, I’ll begin with a snapshot of what’s going on right now. Juliet’s almost 14 months old, and has started taking her first tentative steps. It feels as though we are always desperately wanting her to reach her next milestone, but then immediately missing the “little” baby she once was! She is definitely a toddler these days rather than a baby. She’s got about 13-14 words, many of which only we can understand. Fave word is “shoes”, rhyming with “books”. Very cute, which is just as well as it’s repeated about 64 times a day. Her appetite is quite alarmingly large. This of course fills me with immense pride, as if it’s a personal achievement of mine. Ah, to be a mum!

Oh, and Bruce the Rooster is still her main man, as seen in the photo I took a few hours ago. She does love all her soft toys, but noone comes even close to Brooster.

I’m now 15 weeks pregnant, and in disbelief as to how quickly this pregnancy is flying by. I’m so distracted with Juliet that sometimes I almost forget I’m pregnant. The thought of having a newborn in 5 months time is something that I would rather be in denial about however (I've come to REALLY value my sleep!!), so the distraction is quite welcome.

So that’s about it for now – I will try and be at least semi-regular about posting on this site. And if I ever get REALLY motivated, I might even start a separate arty/intellectual blog with little or no talk of babies! Stranger things have happened…
